Welcome to Air Quality Measurement
Multifunction environmental sensors have been successfully trialled in many sites. These devices have provided valuable insights into the room conditions that guests actually experience. The aim of real-time monitoring is to use this information to identify any issues and ultimately improve room air quality to meet the highest standards.
Receiving your Pack
A package will arrive to your site containing the pre-configured devices will be delivered to your address.
Each box will contain a QR code for our installation support page & other useful information for the equipment.
The package contains:
1 x Gateway
- 1x ‘Gateway’ with Aerial
- Power adaptor
- LAN cable (if not using 4G connectivity)
- Mounting bracket (for permanent wall install)
2 x Wireless Multifunction Environmental Sensors
- Pre-configured for quick application to a wall.
- 2 X lithium batteries already installed
Step 1: Plug in the Gateway
The gateway device collects and sends the data from the multifunction sensors wirelessly. The multifunction sensors should be in optimum range from the gateway.
The gateway is to be installed in a 'comms' room/ cupboard closest to the multifunction sensors. It will need to be plugged into a power outlet, aerial screwed on the back panel and then internet connection is provided via:
a) the supplied ethernet cable (schedule time with IT to advise which LAN ports/ server rooms to use)
or
b) the 4G Sim card already installed
Step 2. Determine where to locate each sensor
The sensors are to be located in appropriate rooms chosen by you. We need locations that will give good comparative insight as to what good and bad looks like in each site.
We suggest the following locations:
- 1 x Sensor located in a room that is known to have issues with bad air quality
- 1 x Sensor located in a room that has no issues.
Step 3. Where to place device on the wall
The placement of the sensor is important.
We recommend it is located close to the guest bed to optimally measure guest experience while sleeping. It is also important that it is around chest height to make the motion sensor function adequately.
Consideration should be given to room aesthetics and the security of the device.
Ideally the sensor will not be placed in a location where it is an eyesore, nor should it be located where it is likely to be knocked off the wall or intentionally removed.
We suggest that maintenance teams are consulted on how to fix the device to the wall.
Step 4: Stick the device on the wall
Due consideration must be given so that repairs are not needed should the device be moved.
Double sided tape has been used to good effect previously.
3M Command strips have worked well in trails.
Step 5: Inform stakeholders to ensure the trial is a success
Housekeeping & maintenance teams should be notified of the presence of the sensors to ensure they are aware of the devices.
Once placed, the multifunction sensor should not be moved. If you wish to move the device to another location - this is easily done. Just take off the wall and move to the new location. Make sure the room details are updated in our system.
Step 6: After installation is complete
Email the us here stating the following:
- Name of the site
- Date of install
- Room/location of each device with its Device ID (printed on the side of the device)
- Photos of the installed devices
You can login to our portal to confirm if the devices are working optimally or if they need adjusting.
Once installed optimally, these devices will keep working in the background with minimal maintenance.

How to identify a device
Each device has a unique 4-character ID (a 'DevUI) printed on the side of the device. This device ID should be used when communicating for troubleshooting purpose.
Gateway not connecting
Involve the local IT team for providing LAN access in the server room. There is a 4G option that can be switched remotely upon request. The use of 4G (which is an extra cost) will be determined based on any limitations in the hotel.
Sensor not connecting
The sensor needs to be in the IoT network range of the sensors. The network range depend on multiple factors including number of floors & walls between the gateway and sensors. Other blockages can also affect network range. Contact us here for support.
Sensor batteries need replacing
The devices use special Lithium batteries which last up to 5 years so these will not need frequent replacing. Instructions to replace the batteries:
- Remove the back panel of the sensor by gently prying the tab with a small screwdriver
- Install two AA 3.6V Lithium Battery (ER14505)
(Caution: Using batteries other than the ones provided may result in loss of performance or damage to the device. Dispose of properly, observing environmental protection rules.)
